New! Swim Lessons and Open Water Safety

The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) in partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and grant funded support from the Green Family Foundation has developed a pilot Water Safety program. The focus of this programmatic endeavor is to provide under-served and underrepresented youth with the opportunity to engage in swimming lessons and learn water safety. The swimming lessons will take place at the Boys & Girls Club in Asbury Park. The water safety portion will take place at the beach in Ocean Grove. Each component is fully staffed with trained, certified professionals.

Program Overview
Starting with swim lessons in a supervised, closed water environment, our qualified instructors will teach the basics of swimming and help students become comfortable in water. Once students have a basic proficiency, we will move to the beach and learn about the ocean. From tides, waves and rip currents, to sea life — students will be taught how to be safe in the water so they can enjoy the gift they’ve been given. In addition to water safety, we will spend time learning about the God who created the ocean.

Program Goals
Enroll children ages 8–12 with no experience with swimming and ocean safety. Class size is extremely limited, and enrollment is first come, first served.
