Ocean Grove
Beautification Project

History

The Ocean Grove Beautification Project (OGBP) was founded in 1994 when leaders of local organizations and enthusiastic residents joined forces to establish and revive gardens in the town’s public areas. “Beautification,” as it is known, has always been mindful of sound environmental practices and the need for long-term planning. The results, evident today in the proliferation of flowers throughout the town and beachfront area, have drawn widespread praise from local organizations, businesses, residents, and visitors.

Beautification’s success is due to the work of dedicated volunteers and generous financial contributions from individuals and organizations.

Beauty Along God’s Square Mile

The Ocean Grove Beautification Volunteers plant and maintain 14 public gardens, 97 boardwalk planters, and seven historic urns/fountains. In 2023, this fantastic group of volunteers planted approximately 5,600 individual plants and flowers.

Get Involved

Beautification is an all-volunteer organization. A group of about fifty people help plant and maintain OGBP’s gardens each year. OGBP meets on Thursday mornings from March through November to work on specific gardens.  For more information on how to volunteer, click the button below.

Community Support

The Ocean Grove Beautification Project spends between $15,000 and $18,000 each year purchasing flowers, mulch, and other landscaping materials. OGBP relies on the generosity of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association Ladies’ Auxiliary, The Starving Artist, Neptune Township, and individuals.
